1. Provision of Network Connectivity, Management and Safe Internet Access
• SchoolNet is based on IP-VPN technology with all the schools, CRCs, NCOEs, Provincial ICT, Ministry and NIE connected to the VPN. The last mile connectivity is handled by the SchoolNet Service Provider : Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT). SLT also provides SchoolNet with International Bandwidth through the Network Operation Center (NOC). The primary function of the NOC is to ensure a reliable connection between the SchoolNet VPN and Internet.
• sch.lk Top Level Domain is now managed by the SchoolNet. This is the domain assigned for ALL schools in Sri Lanka. Your school can also apply for domain names.
• Web Hosting for all the connected organizations to SchoolNet.
• Web Filtering for Safe Internet Access for School Children
2. Services offered for Learning and Teaching
1. Learning Management System (LMS) to host learning materials for different course modules.
